Psychotherapy

Psychological processes such as psychotherapy and counselling are treatments, grounded in dialogue and trust, it is based on regular personal interaction, to help an individual change, ease psychological suffering, or overcome certain constraints. It aims to improve the person’s well-being and to help people develop healthier and more effective habits; including making modifications in thoughts, behaviours, relationships, habits, emotions, and better coping with challenging situations, such as choice making.

Psychotherapy / counselling can help people from all ages live better, healthier, happier and more productive lives.  It can be provided on an individual basis, for couples, families, and groups.  It provides a safety and supportive environment that allows talking honestly and openly with someone who is nonjudgmental, objective and neutral; it is an active process between you and the psychotherapist.

Some signs that may show you could benefit from psychotherapy are:

  • You are using substances (or people)  to cope, and this is harming you or others.
  • You worry excessively and constantly expect the worse.
  • You feel helpless, sad and overwhelmed on a regular basis.
  • You suffered a difficult situation and can’t seem to stop thinking about it.
  • You are getting bad comments and feedback at school or work.
  • You are having difficulties concentrating at work, school or other day-to-day activities.
  • You have lost someone or something important to you.
  • Despite your efforts, nothing you have done seems to have helped.
  • Your beloved ones have expressed their preoccupation.
  • Your relationships are strained.
  • You feel disengaged from previously beloved activities.
  • You just want to get to know yourself better.

These therapeutic processes involve sessions between you and your psychologist or psychotherapist. These sessions may last 50 minutes and will occur on a schedule agreed on by you and your psychotherapist, on a regular basis.
